Thoughts for gardening on a Saturday morning

 There are times,
beholding the wounds of the world,
we feel inadequate.

We haven't done enough.

Yes, there are those who give their blood on the ramparts,
who are tireless in their work for justice and healing.

It is only together that we are they.

Remember, you are not asked to save the world,
or even a single creature.

You are asked to listen,
to hear what you are called to do,
great or small,
and to do that.
In a stone wall I walk past every morning,
there are small stones
that hold the great ones in place.

In the chorus you only sing one part
but when you change your note
you change the whole chord.

Writing prompts

Simple.
Find a picture.
Tell a story.

I'm only a tiny bit concerned with where my mind went
right out of the gate.
~~~~~~~~
It was easier than she thought.
The wounding words,
snippets of resentment,
petty grievances,
nocturnal diatribes;
all neatly packaged
in one innocuous leather case;
finally reduced in importance
and put into proper perspective.
She was ready to let them go.
She couldn't believe how unencumbered she felt
as she left it
and walked away.
The reality was his death had set them both free.
Although tempted to turn back for one last look,
she had already turned toward the future.
She wasn't sorry she had killed him.
South Dakota sky
I'm in South Dakota this week,
working on the Rosebud reservation.
Here's the sky during a 12 hour period.
No words needed.
I am
I am a
reader
writer
listener
speaker
lover of words
Words that
enlighten
console
inform
inspire
encourage
But in our current age,
words have been weaponized;
twisted and distorted beyond recognition,
leaving only shards
capable of,
indeed intent on,
wounding.
I've found refuge
in silence,
in going deeper within,
in the visual.
I'm here
but without the need to add more words to the mix.
I'll let recent images inform you about where I am and want I'm about.
Seeing people I love
in places I love.
Life is good.
No more words are needed.
(At least, not right now)
