Another trip (south) to Crystal Bridges and Eureka Springs
to see a light and sound installations called Listening Forest -
and, once again, it was fabulous.
The museum is such a gem -
I can't encourage you enough;
if you haven't seen it already,
what are you waiting for?
The town in which the museum is located,
Bentonville, has lots going on,
including
great restaurants and fun activities.
We went to Eureka Springs one morning and stoped at Thornecrown Chapel on the way.
it helped that the weather was perfect;
crisp, sweater weather without blustery winds
or below freezing temperatures.
My two favorite installations were
the Text Stream and the heartbeat in the Forest.
The only thing that would have made the event more perfect
is if there had been the option of going with others
who were looking for a more spiritual,
contemplative experience.
The installations certainly lend themselves to a meditative time;
while some of the evening was lovely and quiet,
there are always those folks
(especially deep in the Ozarks)
who love to scream political troupes about an orange traitor
that marred the experience for us.
That incident aside, the overall aesthetic of the event was superb -
and it's there until the first of the year,
so see about tickets and head on down.
Now - on to the holidays!
