It's not just me, right?
Is time flying for anyone else?
How can it be the end of January already?
There's been the holidays -
and a trip to Florida
and I'm knee deep in wrapping up a 3 yr stint
as Senior Warden for my church.
Usually the gig is 1 yr long, but the COVID pandemic
and departure of our Rector extended my tenure.
I give my final address to the congregation on Sunday -
and then life as I knew it will hopefully return -
at least that's the plan.
While I wait for thoughts to be clear in my head about what I want to say,
I'm going to take a few minutes here and look back on the holidays.
It was the first time in years my 'boys' - now grown men -
were together,
the first Christmas for my granddaughter
and her first time meeting Uncle Mikey in person -
although she's Zoomed him before.
It couldn't have been better.
an artist in Taos and full time military -
that its good to see them remember points of commonality and shared history.
It was everything I could have hoped for -
except it was too short.
I know all you mamas get that.
Even realizing that these two will be picking the nursing home seemed amusing;
As long as I keep practicing getting up and down from the floor,Two weeks into the New Year,
I made a short trip to Florida for some sun and warmer temperatures.
We stayed in Orlando and, although I had no desire to go to any of the 'Kingdoms',
I did walk around Disney Springs -
which is really just an open air shopping mall for all things Disney.
My favorite parts of the trip though were side jaunts to
Clearwater Beach
and Bok Tower Gardens -
both were beautiful and the perfect palate cleanser from Disney...
not that these places weren't curated as well, but it was far more restful and natural.
The residence on the property, El Retiro, was stunning;
I could have moved in and been very comfortable.
It was just the break I needed to get me through
the rest of the cold
weather.
Sometimes, you just need to be beamed up
and out of your routine, right?
