Winter in the Land of Enchantment

I know I have more Greek isles simmering on the back burner,
 but life intervened and other locales beckoned.
I spent Christmas week in Santa Fe with Art Boy
and it was fabulous on so many levels.
A few highlights ;
snow on Christmas Eve and Day,
winter wonderlands that lasted until the suns rays cleared it away
as magically as it was came.
A magical Farolito Walk along Canyon Road,
the artists enclave, on Christmas Eve.
Wonderful vibrant pieces of art,
Art Boys and others;
being introduced to a fabulous female artist,
at the New Mexico Museum of Art,
a Desert Transcendentalist named Agnes Pelton,
whose ability to convey light and form blew me away;
as if being called a Desert Transcendentalist wasn't reason alone to love her.
Try as I might, the pictures can't capture how extraordinary these paintings are.
If you ever get a chance to see her work,
run, don't walk.

I've realized that what I've come to love most of all about Santa Fe,
is that chance to acknowledge and 'honor'
how deeply we're embedded in other cultures.
That reality seems to be so frightening to some Americans these days.
I see it as both a comfort and a chance to learn more.
Of course, as beautiful as the sights are
THIS is who I go to see
(Don't we all have hammocks in the living room?)
This hard working, courageous, creative, always thinking outside the box guy ...
time with him is such joy.
I'm just grateful he chooses such gorgeous places to live.

Even if the B&B in which I stayed had ZERO holiday decor
and I had to go buy my own
from Santa Fe artist, Jone Hallmark.

Not complaining.
