We had a bet going between ourselves
about how long it would be into our trip
before we found ourselves having a political discussion
with an Irish native son (or daughter)
about WTF was going on in our country.
The answer?
Less than 20 minutes.
As soon as we hailed a cab at the airport to take us to our hotel
and our accents gave us away,
we were off and running in a conversation which would be repeated
on an almost daily basis.
Suffice it to say, #45 is universally reviled;
he has unquestionably lowered our country's standing in the eyes of the world.
The good news?
We have their sympathy and prayers -
since praying that idiot doesn't annihilate all of us is about all we common folk can do!
I adored Dublin;
an accessible, colorful, easily navigated city,
well worth exploring -
which we did for 3 days -
thanks to the hop on/hop off bus
which took us everywhere we wanted to go
when we didn't feel like walking any more.
We arrived at 7AM (Irish time; 1AM St Louis time)
and, since it was too early to check into the hotel,
we left our bags in their secured baggage room and started exploring right away;
hoping it would wake us up after an overnight, no sleep flight.
Be still my heart!
Is it possible my snarkiness is directly inherited from my Irish ancestors?!

If crowd size is any indication,
the point of destination for many tourists in Dublin was the Guinness Distillery.
We made the obligatory stop,
for the sake of educating ourselves,
and had lunch.
I didn't hate it
but I won't be switching from margaritas anytime soon.
Meanwhile, back on the streets ...
