It's very sweet;
and offers a pace that seems to work for many.
We visited a senior citizen center (in Santa Clara) where 'the third generation'
talked to us about what it like 'back in the day'
and they demonstrated the secret messages they would send
at dances
with their fans
Don't need a fan to translate THIS message!
As much fun as they were,
after over 3 decades of working in pediatrics,
it should come as no surprise to anyone that a visit to an arts school
was my favorite People to People exchange.
Benny More was a native of Cienfuegos Province and a famous Cuban singer.
The great great grandson of a King of the Congo,
More was born in 1919.
His vocal career spanned decades
and included a recording contract with RCA,
his own band, television appearances and concerts around the world.
When he died in 1963, more than 100,000 people attended his funeral.
He is still revered and honored today -
and the school we attended honors his memory
while educating and encouraging the Cuban artists
of today and tomorrow.
What a delight.
and so much talent on display.
I loved the two perspectives on the same subject!
